Our target audience being users who use apps like Instagram and Snapchat, we conducted surveys and short interviews within Humber campus to find out what is important for users in chat apps, how do they prefer to communicate, how do they learn to use new apps, etc. Our click-through prototype focuses on the user flow and integrates some of our research findings.
What I learned
Users had difficulty figuring out the swipe left/right action to navigate through screens even though, in the initial research stage, we hypothesized that it wouldn't be a problem with popular apps like Instagram and Snapchat having already integrated such interactions into their platforms.
To address this problem, we designed a three page onboarding - unfortunately, we found that some users click through onboarding screens without reading it through.
